The Heaviness Crushing Over Us..

  at Wednesday, February 04, 2009
Last Tuesday, I was in my school pool training together with my water polo team. As we finished and head off to the shower, our school's goal keeper was saying something like this:

"It has been such a long time since I last train. And now, I fell so heavy because of that. As if the water is pressing me down.."
And it sparked my brain and heart to keep on thinking..

In Water Polo games, we have to float in the water every moment, and this floating skill is known as water treading. As water polo players, treading the water is an essential crucial skill that we all must have. However, only with consistent training and practice, only can one master it. The goalies of the team have the best water treading skills, however, without consistent training. Even the goalies who once felt treading water was like walking on the ground, will feel the heaviness of the water pressing 'em down.

In our life, it is also the same, in our work or even in our spiritual life.

Reading the bible, having the fruit of the spirit,or even witnessing to our friends. We need to be consistent in it. For example, had you ever thought how can people ever read the bible EARLY in the morning for TWO hours EVERYDAY when we are having problem with 15 minutes consistent devotion everyday? I feel that as we become persistent in becoming consistent with our bible reading, with the right desires of our heart and with the grace of God, we're training our spiritual sight or ears to be more sensitive to what God wants to tell us.

Same as killing sins in our life, the longer we stay away from it, the lesser the urge for us to do it. Same as the fruits of the Spirit mention in Galatians, love joy peace patience kindness goodness gentleness and self-control. I believe they don't come in one day too, but rather by living daily bearing our crosses and clinging on to the cross of Christ.

Therefore, let us be persistent in being consistent. May God richly bless you and give you grace as you walk with Him.
